 Marshall & Cardinal

We assume that the reader is familiar with the rules of Chess.
To play Grand Chess it will be sufficient to point out the differences:

  • The first difference, obviously, is the mere precence of the Marshall, combining the powers of Rook and Knight, and the Cardinal, combining the powers of Bishop and Knight. The problem below provides for a nice introduction: white checkmates in two.

  • The second difference is the absence of a castling rule: the Rooks are free from the onset and the King's safety hardly constitutes a plausible argument in a Chess game.
